Liberia Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (LEITI)

The Liberia Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (LEITI) Assists in the identification of businesses in the extractive sector that are established for the sole purpose of facilitating ML/TF, assists in preventing shell companies from being registered; assists in identifying the beneficial ownership of companies, reports suspicious business registrants to the FIA and updates on number of businesses established to facilitate ML/TF, number of shell companies registered, and number of suspicious business registrants. 

Internal Audit Agency (IAA)

The Internal Audit Agency (IAA) conducts internal audits of public institutions and reports on suspected money laundering, terrorist financing, or other financial crimes. IAA also maintains a database of audit reports of all audits conducted and provides to competent authorities upon request. 

General Auditing Commission (GAC)

Genera Auditing Commission (GAC) conducts external audits of public institutions and reports on suspected money laundering, terrorist financing, or other financial crimes. Maintains a database of audit reports of all audits conducted and provides to competent authorities upon request.

Office of the President of Liberia

The Office of the President of Liberia provides executive oversight of the IMC, FIA, and other AML/CFT Stakeholder Entities, sets benchmarks and holds AML/CFT Stakeholder Entities accountable for the performance of their AML/CFT functions, reviews and approves AML/CFT and related Laws and Regulations, receives briefings on issues of national & security concerns.

The National Legislature

The National Legislature enacts AML/CFT & related laws, provides resources for AML/CFT Stakeholder Entities through budgetary appropriations and legislative representation or advocacy, and holds AML/CFT Stakeholder Entities accountable for the performance of their AML/CFT functions through legislative oversight.

Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)

For awareness and sensitization purposes, CSOs are to effectively disperse AML/CFT/CP messages to the communities.
